I've just finished watching "No country for old men". I knew I would have been right about this one, any film with such a shit title had to be a bunch of pretentious wank. Its basically your average - guy finds money people go after him to get it back and a bunch of people get killed. However, everyone talks in pseudo-self referencing philosophical bollocks like they do in Dawson's Creek, it started off really well then went steadily downhill until the climatic moment where the screen goes blank and I think to myself, fucking computer has crashed again, but no then the credits come up - the film actually just randomly ends in mid conversation with no resolution whatsoever. The people who made this film should be shot and I want those two hours of my life back.
I suppose whilst I'm talking about films - last night I watched "Diary of the Dead" which was really good, nothing you haven't seen before from every other Romero film and nothing that hasn't really been done with Blair Witch et al with the documentary stylee, but it had an interesting angle and it the film was more of a commentary on the media than about flesh eating zombies or original ideas.
The there was the remake of "The eye", basically exactly the same as the original, almost scene for scene - except American - thats all I think I really need to say about that one. |

As it has become known has taken a new twist, you see its nothing to do with Bliar and his secret deals and back handers, no no, its all an innocent mistake as civil servants in Whitehall did actually call officials but didn't realise it was a bank holiday in Scotland that Friday, and of course it was a bank holiday in England on Monday and Bliar was off to Libya on Tuesday... Do they actually expect people to swallow this crap? I wonder what excuse they'll come out with next as its emerged even the European commission knew about the deal.
I watched the Kirsty Wark interview with Alex Salmond on youtube, which there had been a big fuss about due to her rudeness and aggression in the interview, and I don't know why people got there knickers in such a twist, she was a bit rude at the end with a comment she made, but the rest was pretty much what you would expect. I've seen Paxman being far more aggressive in the past. Still good to see that Joke McConnell's holidays with her are paying off for him ;)

Its quite funny that in opposition Labour and the Lib dems are still acting as though they are in coalition. They seem far too eager to spend tax payers money on this Trams scheme and have started throwing their toys out of the pram when the Tories and Greens voted with the SNP to delay the trams project until an independent body fully costs the project and makes sure that the spending isnt going to spiral over the estimate like it usually does with Labour/Lib dem projects. Considering that twice this week the North bridge has been closed off due to suicide loons, one has to wonder how easy it would be to divert trams due to unforseen events..

This last couple of weeks has been quite fun. Last Friday went out to Gigantor, second time ive been and im still not convinced that this is a great night out, cheap yes but just a bit naff really. On Saturday myself and Richard went round to Connar's flat for the Eurovision song thingy party had a good time was a little worse for wear at the end :/ though not as much as the guy that spewed. I annoyingly didnt get my holiday pay for the days I took off for Dark City, I phoned up Reed and they were like oh you'll get both days next week ie yesterday so yesterday came and I was only paid for 4 days again, so called them back up and they were like oh you were paid two weks ago - and I was like no I wasnt - so after a bit off faffing around the girl was said oh you were only paid half an hour of holiday pay this week but you were definately paid for last week, which im conviced I wasnt but I realised I wasnt going to get anywhere - anyway she then said that she'd put the other 6 and half hours holiday pay through for next week, which im sure is just going to create even more confusion - but I'll wait until I get my bank statement before calling them up again, at least I still have all my pay slips and a copy of the holiday request form so I can bust their job agency ass.
Last night went out to Cyberia which was really good, a far better mix of music than the last time and twas a good laugh. Took us ages to get a taxi back though and when we eventually flagged a taxi down this cheeky girl was like we were in the queue before you but we just jumped in - screw you random ned its cold and windy. Hopefully at Ascension tonight they have air con - crowded sweaty heat is not so good. Once Ive had my tea I think I'll relax with a face mask and try and catch up on some Battlestar Galactica hopefully I can get back into it - I think the excitement of Heroes just makes every other show seem a bit shit just now.
Alex Salmond seems to be making good progress as First Minister so far having cut down the number of ministers, pledging to get the railways working a bit better, reversing Labours decision to Downgrade the A&E hospitals and rebranding the Scottish Executive as the Scottish Government. I was quite amused whilst reading the Metro on the way to work yesterday. The newspaper refered to the new administration with the term "regime" its little things like that which remind you how completely biased towards Labour the majority of the press is in Scotland the only exceptions I can think of are the Scotsman and the Herald. Interesting to see that neither Tony Blair or Gordon Brown have been in contact with Salmond, I think when pushed by the press Brown did offer some sort of congratulations begrudgingly.

"Heroes: Origins" will air in "Heroes'" Monday night time slot when that smash hit takes a hiatus. The net has ordered six segs of "Origins," which, combined with "Heroes," makes for 30 hours altogether.
"Heroes: Origins" will center on characters not yet seen on the original show. Peacock has also added an interactive element to the show: Viewers will be asked to pick their favorite character from "Origins," who will then join the cast of the full-blown "Heroes" in the following year.
The initiative to keep the "Heroes" franchise in originals for as long as possible harkens back to the golden age of TV, when series aired 39 weeks worth of originals, then took a break"
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117964868.html?categoryid=14&cs=1
So it looks like this means that the second series will hopefully carry on with all surviving characters, and not be set in the past as that whole storyline will feature in a spin off xDDDDD.
